Went for Brunch and was surprised at what they had on the menu! Very nice selections and unique presentations! Def will go back, also if it's your birthday they give you a free dessert off the menu!
We had to wait about 15 minutes past our reservation time, but let me tell you—it was absolutely worth it. From the moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between upscale and relaxed, with a calm, inviting energy that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The hostess greeted us with genuine warmth and offered a kind apology for the short delay, which was appreciated. What really stood out, though, was the impeccable service. Multiple servers tended to us throughout the evening, working seamlessly together in a way that brought back fond memories of my own time working in a high-end, team-service restaurant. It’s a rarity these days and a true mark of professionalism. We both stepped outside our usual culinary comfort zones and ordered dishes we’d never tried before—and they were absolutely phenomenal. Every bite was layered with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly crafted with care. A special shoutout goes to the crab bisque, which our AirBnB host emphatically recommended, calling it "second to none." She wasn’t exaggerating—it was rich, silky, and unforgettable. All in all, Chestnut exceeded our expectations in every way. If you’re in town and looking for a memorable dining experience, I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
We popped into this lovely local favorite on a whim and were very happy with the experience. We started with their recommended lobster bisque and their soup of the day, a wild mushroom and ramp, served with crusty bread. For our mains we shared the 8oz petite filet over mash potatoes and their paella with local NC shrimp and blue muscles. Warm and delicious after walking all of Downtown Asheville on a cool windy day.
Great atmosphere, amazing service, and incredible staff. Our server, Jane, was so sweet and helpful. We had the chef’s special, the “Butcher’s Cut” (a ribeye with ragout sauce), which was absolutely fantastic, and the scallops were next level! I was here with my boyfriend for an early birthday celebration, and they even surprised us with a strawberry trifle. Overall, a 10/10 experience. We’ll definitely be back!
The cheeseburger I ordered was the most delicious looking presentation of a cheeseburger I have ever had! The bun was literally gleaming when it arrived at the table! Whitney was a very attentive server! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! The atmosphere was laid back as well! The manager even came out and took a picture of us! Very friendly!
Chestnut was fantastic. The interior is cozy, and the decor is great, the staff were welcoming and friendly, and the food was top notch. Every bite of every dish was incredible, and was such a great harmony of flavors. Absolutely order the tater tots if you get the chance, but be careful because every tater tot you eat after this one will be a let down
Had a great ribeye, and salmon. Very good drinks too and the strawberry trifle dessert was great. They did forget the mushrooms and bacon compote on my steak, but I'll overlook it . It was a busy night.
Chestnut is beautifully decorated, with a warm, inviting feel that strikes a perfect balance between rustic charm and understated elegance. The food was delicious and just different enough to feel special without being over the top. Each dish felt carefully thought out, with bold flavors and unique twists that still felt familiar. It’s clear the kitchen takes real pride in what they create. And then there’s the service...our waitress, Julia, was absolutely fantastic. She was attentive without hovering, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and had a kind, genuine presence. One might say that when it comes to servers, she was "peak". Chestnut is a gem in downtown Asheville. If you’re looking for great with food and a warm, welcoming vibe, this is the place.
